Refine and Rejuvenate Your Neck
Dr. Matt Chhatre performs neck liposuction at his Kansas City area cosmetic surgery practice, helping patients achieve a younger, fitter appearance.
Your neck plays a significant role in the overall appearance of your face. The aging process and our genetic predispositions can cause fat to collect in the neck area, resulting in a “double chin” effect that many find unattractive. Liposuction, or the surgical removal of localized fat using a vacuum, is a fast, effective means of giving your neck a taut, youthful appearance. If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your neck because of excess fat, contact us today to find out how neck liposuction at our office serving the greater Kansas City area can help you.
The Neck Liposuction Procedure
A neck liposuction procedure begins with anesthesia to ensure the best possible comfort. The cannula, a thin hollow tube, is inserted through small incisions in the skin to loosen the excess fat. Dislodged fat is then drawn from the body through a syringe attached to the cannula. Swelling and fluid retention are common after liposuction, and generally subsides after five to eight weeks. You may experience nausea for the first 24 to 48 hours following the procedure. Also during that time, blood-tinged tumescent fluid will drain from your incision sites. The surgeon leaves the incisions exposed so the liquid can escape, which helps minimize bruising. When swelling fully subsides, your new contours will become apparent. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle following the procedure, you can expect long-lasting results.
Liposuction is best suited for non-smoking patients within 30 percent of their ideal weight with good muscle tone and elasticity of the skin.
Risks of Neck Liposuction
Though liposuction procedures have been performed countless times with outstanding results, all surgical procedures involve a degree of risk and liposuction is no exception. Possible complications can include uneven contours, infection, unfavorable scarring, persistent pain and blood clots.
