Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is an esthetic treatment that lifts years away from your appearance, it helps reverse the early signs of aging and aids in the reduction of wrinkles, sundamage and acne scars. Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is the ideal treatment with downtime of only 3-7 days, depending on the depth of the procedure. Fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing works by creating thousands of microscopic perforations. The skin around the perforations stays intact, which allows the skins top layer to heal from the edge of these tiny holes quickly. The heat from the laser heats up and damages the tissue down in the skin to stimulate collage and elastin production.
Prior to the procedure Dr. Chhatre will evaluate your skin at your cosmetic consultation and talk with you about your concerns and what results you are looking to achieve from the procedure. He will explain the procedure and answer any questions that come to mind. You will also need to meet with our licensed esthetician, Keri Eichhorn, to start on pre procedure preparation to ensure the best results. Keri will also go over all pre and post procedure instructions to make sure you are fully prepared prior to and following your procedure.
This procedure is done in our clinic by Kansas City Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Chhatre. A compounded topical anesthetic cream is applied evenly to the face about one hour prior to the procedure, eliminating the need for any sedation. The procedure is relatively comfortable and you are able to go home immediately following the procedure. You will meet with Keri the following day for a post procedure oxygen treatment and given additional post procedure instructions as well as recommended skin care to assist with the best results possible.
The final results can take approximately 3-6 months to see and up to 3 treatments can be one, each approximately 3-4 months apart. While this treatment does help with some hyperpigmentation, following the procedure with a series of IPL treatments will help eliminate any residual hyperpigmentation as well as any vascular spider veins for an end result of clear, smooth and even skin.
