Breast Augmentation Questions & Answers
Am I a good candidate for Breast Augmentation?
You may be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you fit into any of the following categories:
- You have uneven breasts and would like to appear more symmetrical
- You have lost a large amount of weight and your breasts have shrunken
- Your breast size or shape has changed after pregnancy
- You feel your breast size is too small or not in proportion to the rest of your body
How is Breast Augmentation surgery performed?
Breast augmentation is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Anesthesia will be administered prior to surgery. The details of your procedure will depend on the particular type of surgery you and Dr. Chhatre choose. Generally, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Chhatre prefers to use an inframammary incision, in the crease underneath your breast, although sometimes one around the nipple area, in the armpit or the navel may be used instead. The implant will then be inserted through this incision and placed behind the breast tissue or partly under the chest muscle. The surgery will be performed at Dr. Chhatre’s state of the art Ambulatory Surgical Center to ensure maximum privacy and quality of care.
What is the recovery time after Breast Augmentation surgery?
Generally, the recovery time after breast enhancement surgery can take from two to three weeks. The bruising and discoloration will disappear quickly and the swelling should go down in a month. You can resume normal activities within two weeks but will be advised to avoid heavy lifting or physical contact with your breasts for up to four weeks. Remember that everyone heals at their own pace and Dr. Chhatre will closely monitor you through the recovery process to make sure that your healing proceeds as comfortably and quickly as possible.
Are there any risks associated with Breast Augmentation surgery?
All plastic surgery bears some risks. Possible complications include infection, blood clot, reaction to anesthesia and loss of nipple sensation. However, with Dr. Chhatre at Summit Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, these risks are minimized. Dr. Chhatre’s main concern is the health and well-being of his patients. With that in mind, Dr. Chhatre will not perform any surgical procedure that presents an unreasonable risk to his patient. Dr. Chhatre does not follow the latest “fads” in plastic surgery; he makes sure a technique has good results before adopting them into his practice.
Is it expensive?
The cost of breast enlargement surgery varies significantly depending upon the type of procedure chosen and the difficulty of the operation. However, Dr. Chhatre realizes the effect breast augmentation surgery will have on your pocket book and is pleased to offer several breast augmentation financing options to lessen this impact, including financing through CareCredit.
