Dr. Matt Chhatre can improve your bustline with breast lift surgery at his Kansas City area clinic.
Breast lift or mastopexy surgery with or without breast augmentation has become very popular as a method of improving sagging, deflated breasts. A woman's breasts change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. This can lead to self-consciousness, low self-esteem and physical discomfort. Loss of skin elasticity can occur because of the aging process, pregnancy, breastfeeding, gravity, heredity, weight loss or weight gain. Breast lift surgery counteracts these factors, giving you a sexy, youthful bust line and rejuvenated confidence. If you want to learn more about how breast lift surgery can benefit you, please contact our office serving the greater Kansas City area, Lee’s Summit and Overland Park.
How a Breast Lift Works
A breast lift procedure begins with the administration of anesthesia to ensure comfort during the operation. The surgeon will typically create an incision around or directly below the nipple. Next, the underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to create a perkier contour and increase firmness. The nipple and areola are then repositioned. If necessary, large areolas are reduced by removing excess skin tissue. Once the breasts are reshaped, the remaining skin is tightened and incisions are closed. Scars resulting from the operation are concealed in the breast contours. Some incision lines on the breast surface are permanent, but usually fade and improve over time. Sutures lying deep within the skin tissue support the new shape of your breasts. Many times a breast lift is combined with breast implants. Breast implants help to restore upper breast fullness and cleavage. They also add to the cup size, resulting in fuller breasts with higher profiles.
Risks of Breast Lift Surgery
Women considering breast lift surgery with or without implants need to be in good physical health, preferably maintaining stable body weight and have realistic expectations. Like any surgical procedure, a breast lift does involve some risks, such as unfavorable scars, infection, persistent pain, swelling and bruising.
