Breast lifting with or without breast augmentation has become very popular across the United States. This is because many women are no longer willing to accept sagging, deflated breasts as just a necessary consequence of aging and/or child birth. A woman's breasts can change over time, losing their youthful shape and firmness. This can lead to self consciousness and lower self esteem over the appearance of the breasts as well as a level of physical discomfort. Loss of skin elasticity, due to the aging process, along with the following factors contribute to the changed appearance of breasts over time:

As a result of the factors listed above the breasts may have ptosis which is more commonly known as sagging. The severity of ptosis is determined by the position of the nipple with respect to the inframammary crease, where the bottom of the breast attaches to the chest. These changes in the breasts can be helped by plastic surgeon Dr. Chhatre with a procedure known as a mastopexy, or breast lift. Dr. Chhatre removes excess skin and tightens the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour, as well as to lift the breasts. A breast lift is a rejuvenating procedure for the figure as well as the self-esteem by giving the body a more youthful appearance.
Many times the breast lift is combined with breast implants. Breast implants help to restore upper breast fullness and cleavage. They also add to the cup size, resulting in fuller and lifted breasts.
