If you want to receive breast enhancement with no risk that you will be unable to breastfeed due to your breast implants, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Chhatre today.
The Safest Procedure Available
Dr. Chhatre is genuinely concerned about the safety and wellbeing of his patients and performs his breast enhancement procedures in the safest way possible. It is for this reason that he performs most of his cosmetic surgery procedures at his fully accredited freestanding ambulatory surgical center. And it is for this reason that he uses the inframammary approach to insert breast implants as well as submuscular placement of breast implants.
This approach keeps the breast implant far from the nipple, milk ducts, and nerves involved in breastfeeding and ensures that his breast enhancement procedure poses no risk to a woman's ability to breastfeed her children if she desires.
The Origin of Concern
Most of the concern about breast implants and breastfeeding stems from the time when silicone breast implants suffered a temporary moratorium from the Food and Drug Administration due to health concerns. Some believed that silicone would be passed through the mother's milk to the baby. Most of the time, these silicone implants were placed above the muscle with possible interference with nipple sensation. Dr. Chhatre always prefers to place the implants, silicone or saline, under the muscle. This, like most of the concerns put forward at the time, was found to have no scientific basis.
As a result, silicone breast implants have been re-approved for use in cosmetic breast surgery with no concerns for nursing mothers or their infants.
