This makes it easier for the fat to be removed, and reduces the amount of blood and fluid lost during the procedure. In addition, the anesthetic makes the procedure pain-free. Using local anesthetic rather than general anesthetic also greatly reduces the risk of complications from the procedure.

For the best results from liposuction, be sure to work with a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with liposuction. This kind of body contouring is as much an art as it is a science, and if your surgeon has successfully performed a large number of these procedures, you're much more likely to be pleased with your own results.
